If it's not right, you don't pay.
I've been doing this long enough to know when a job's gone wrong. If it has, I'll tell you before you tell me. You won't owe me anything. I'd rather eat the cost than have you leave unhappy. Hasn't happened often. But the policy stands.
Sometimes the honest answer is don't.
Some shoes aren't worth the repair. I'll tell you that at the counter, five minutes in, no charge. I know it costs me the job. I'd rather you spend your money on something that makes sense. You'll remember that. And you'll come back when it does.
